The Goingincirclez Gallery of Tyco Trains - it's (almost) all here!

By Tony L. - Posted on 03 March 2009

At long last: a gallery of nearly the entire Tyco Trains Brownbox (1971-1993) production run*! The following links lead to the Tyco Collection Wing of the "Kaleid" GIC Photo Gallery.

The GIC Tyco Trains Gallery is a snapshot of my collection: well over 300 different brown box freight cars and 100 locomotives (he says quite sheepishly. Seriously. You know how absurd this "collecting" thing actually is at times?).

In addition you'll find a heaping of related Red Box (1959-1968) and even Bluebox (1955-1971) and Greenbox (postwar-to-1954) sprinkled in as well... and even a few interesting custom items from the Saint Canard Midland and other respected custom shops - which are all noted as such.

Whenever possible, I've noted the original Catalog and/or Box Flap stock numbers, and added comments regarding variations, relative scarcity, and interesting features in the slideshow captions.

More pictures are added in as new Tyco (and pertinent Mantua) items are added to my collection; as a general rule I don't use photos from auctions or other websites. There's still a few items in hand that I've yet to even photograph. And of course plenty I don't have or even know about yet... if you have something but don't see it here, please let me know!

To enter the Goingincirclez Tyco Trains Gallery, simply choose a section below and enjoy browsing through the pages of thumbnails. Click on any thumbnail item to expand the view and an interactive slide show will begin.

Eventually I hope to add an Accessories gallery. And to allay any confusion, I do have a number of redbox cars - but not quite all of them. So at some point I'd like to put them in their own gallery, but not until (if ever) I have a better cross-sampling of them.

Want to see some of 'em in action? The following YouTube vids are my own - check 'em out:

*While the Brown Box Freight Cars collection is nearly 100% complete - including dozens of variations only the OCD-afflicted might appreciate - I do not have any of the building kits. Locomotives add up $ in a hurry so my pace there is as I can find/afford them, nonetheless I'm 85% there where diesels are concerned. To my knowledge, this is the largest collection ever shared on the internet or ANY public medium. And once again, I thank and acknowledge those "you know who you are" folks who helped me put it together!
